Sperling Business Process Management

Process modeling, management and control

How do you manage all business tasks, activities and processes?

Do you often think about what is happening to tasks you assigned to do, who is working on them, what is their status now? You may ask: Where is it stacked? And from where whom and when was the right email sent to? Did it arrive anyway? Do you still have to search over and over again, because you lack information? Then it may be the right time for your organisation to explore concepts of workflow and process management.

The Sperling Business Process Manager (aka Sperling BPM or SBPM) provides a complete set of efficient process automation and workflow tools including:

  • complex process modeling and design in a graphical editor
  • adding properties to blocks and attributes to process
  • immediate start of a workflow instance and its real-time management
  • participation in workflows in various roles
  • automated data entry processing and process product management in auto-rendered electronic forms
  • reviewing the history of running and terminated workflows
  • generating reports and exports
  • and much more, getting your processing better and better!

From email to proces: Modeling and Design

The first step in moving from today's inefficient ad-hoc task management full of ubiquitous emails is to map processes and create simple models first. It results in more complex diagrams that reflect your business needs properly.

SBPM allows you to create brand-new model or import an existing BPMN 2.0 compatible model. Additional properties need to be provided for the whole process, its data model, activities and decision blocks. Process products are generated from user entries via automated forms and decisions done. At the same time, scheduled actions, email notification templates, and output reports are defined for the model.

Finally, each model is embedded into the organization's environment by being assigned to an appropriate agenda. It maps multiple models to an organisation structure.

Automation: at any time - reliably - with overview

A well-designed process model represents a completely automated concept of managing the organization's key activities.

Participants of workflow are notified of their tasks via email notifications and the application's inbox. Each task is equipped with all the necessary data and all complementary information just a click away.

Users perform data inputs within their tasks in fully automated forms. These are generated automatically based on the data set of the executive model settings and conditions for each activity (task) defined in the process.

Process managers and of course the system administrator have a perfect overview of the running or completed workflows, including their details.

To everyone as desired: customization

We understand that every customer and every customer's activity or process requires an individual approach. Although, they all share common requirements: efficiency - reliability - intuitiveness. That's why several surprisingly elegant solutions to customize the application's behaviour, as well as its look and feel, can be found in SBPM. Such features include:

  • graphical process model design tool
  • attribute editor of the process database with different controls, data types, pick lists defaults and dependencies
  • definition of branching conditions related to the chosen attribute
  • design of data fields and their behaviour in forms to manage data entry within tasks
  • control mechanisms to display form fields, access rights to their values and required entry
  • formula language to allow complex conditions in handling of the flow branching
  • absolute and relative timer event control values
  • direct access from model diagram to any block and its attributes as well as related form definition
  • assigning users and groups to agendas in model swimming lanes (roles) of the process
  • templates for generating human-readable reports
  • generating history CSV reports
  • definition of deadlines to complete activities and process
  • definition of reminder and escalation deadlines to send email notifications about task due dates
  • email notification templates to customize email notification bodies
  • choosing user authentication option (local or directory service)
  • control over the model's life cycle (installation, deactivation, modification)
  • support of almost any language in the application's interface via given or custom translations
